TARPAULIN RESIDENCE / LA JOLLA, CA
With an emphasis on privacy and staying true to the aesthetic of the surrounding neighborhood, this home is single-story from the street and steps down the hillside at the back. Designed to showcase art and nature, the project's use of expansive glazing incorporates curated ocean views into the collection. Minimalist form and materials including concrete, basalt, Shou Sugi Ban wood, and steel convey a sense of permanence. Generous overhangs and panoramic glazed doors take advantage of the climate and blur the definition between indoor and outdoor.
